Find a church

When I first got saved, someone told me I should go to church—but I had already been invited to one.

In fact, it was that church—the one I was invited to by friends—that led me to Jesus.

Looking back, I realize how important that invitation was. I didn’t know it at the time, but being connected to a church would help shape my faith in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

If you’re just starting out and wondering where to go—or why it matters—this page is for you.

Getting started

Why church matters

Church isn’t about buildings or perfect people. It’s about growing your faith in a community that’s following Jesus together.

You’ll learn, worship, ask questions, and be reminded that you’re not alone.

“Let us not give up meeting together… but encourage one another.”
— Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)

What to look for in a church

  • It points to Jesus. They teach the Bible and focus on the gospel—not just traditions.

  • It feels welcoming. Even if you're new to faith, you feel like you belong.

  • It’s spiritually alive. Worship is sincere. People pray. You sense God is working.

  • There’s a path for growth. You see opportunities to connect, serve, and be part of something beyond Sunday.

Ask yourself

  • Do I feel spiritually fed here?

  • Can I see myself growing in this place?

  • Is the teaching grounded in Scripture?

  • Are people real, humble, and honest?

Next Steps

You might not find the perfect fit on the first visit—and that’s okay.
Try a few. Pray about it. Talk to someone you trust. And when you find a church that feels like home, keep showing up.
You don’t have to be perfect to belong—just willing to grow.
